A to Z Challenge 2026.
A to Z Challenge 2026.

Today’s author has her surname starting with Letter M

The author of Anne of Green Gables, is Lucy Maud Montgomery. She uses the acronym, L. M. Montgomery. She lost her mother before she even turned two years old. Her dad sent her away to her grandparents who were strict, practicing Presbyterians. These facts have been published in numerous biographies of Lucy M. Montgomery.

As fate would have it, Lucy didn’t marry the man she fell in love with, and she didn’t have time to change her mind because he died. Later, she eventually married a Christian minister. Her real life was a far cry from the happy world of her fictional character Anne.

I read the series of Anne books when I was very young, and loved them.

The whole series of 8 books are:

Anne of Green Gables

Anne of the Island

Anne of Avonlea.

Anne of Windy Poplar

Anne’s House of Dreams

Anne of Ingleside

Rainbow Valley

Rilla of Ingleside

Amazon sells the box set of 8 books:

No, her life was not happy. Almost all of her heroines in her books (and she wrote many more than just the Anne books) ended up with a happy life. I think she was living what she wanted through her characters.

Thank you for sharing. I only read her Anne series of books.
