Looking for Emily Bronte books?
She only wrote one book and that is Wuthering Heights. She published under a pseudonym, Ellis Bell, using her initials, E. B. as her hint of her identity. Ellis can be a gender neutral name and no one would associate Ellis with Emily. As her father was a vicar, she hid her surname behind the pseudonym Bell.
Wuthering Heights page count
The page count depends on the publisher, publication, and edition of the book. My copy is from Penguin Classics, published by Penguin Books, under Penguin Random House. It was reissued with revisions and a new preface in 2003. Wuthering Heights page count is 337, excluding the Notes at the back of the novel.
What is the main theme in Wuthering Heights?
Revenge. Heathcliff takes revenge on Hindley Earnshaw for ill-treating him when he was a child. He cheated Hindley of money and Wuthering Heights. Heathcliff then marries Isabella Linton, to take revenge on Edgar Linton, for marrying Catherine Earnshaw and stealing her away from him.
Heathcliff and Isabella have a son, who they name Linton Heathcliff. Catherine and Edgar have a daughter, who they name Catherine too.
Years pass and soon, the third generation grows up into young adults. Heathcliff detains this young woman Catherine, and forces her to marry his son, Linton. Linton dies because of his poor health. Heathcliff now has control of young Cathy’s Thrushcross Grange as well.
Heathcliff has full revenge on Hindley Earnshaw, Edgar Linton and his dead wife, Isabelle Linton.
Is the theme of revenge still relevant in today’s current world?
I say yes. I’ve seen and heard stories of revenge.
Rate Wuthering Heights
I recommend reading this book. I’ll put in a word of caution. The language and action are strong. Characters die often.

What do I like in Wuthering Heights, published in 1847?
I like the high standards of moral decency for readers, in 1847. Graphic descriptions were not published.

Emily Bronte died about one year after her sole novel was published. She refused to take medicine for her viral fever and passed away. She died like her characters, many of whom had refused medication.
