The street where the author Mircea lived, in Stefan cel Mare, of Bucharest, did not have apartment blocks, until a developer built them. Mircea used to dream of climbing mountains, way up to the peaks. After tall buildings were constructed, reality blocked his view of the distant scenery and landscape. He stopped dreaming of scaling mountains. (Mircea, p. 31 – 32)

Dream interpretation of climbing

The traditional dream interpretation of climbing mountains was about ambition. If a dreamer is ambitious, they would see dreams related to their desire of climbing a ladder, hill, mountain and etc. The environment and geography also contribute to the invention of dreams.

When tall buildings blocked Mircea’s view, his unconscious mind slowly released the idea of climbing. In his waking life, he may have encountered circumstances which limited his scope of furthering his ambitions upwards. This may explain why his dreams changed.

He began to dream of exploring the sea bed. Under the great volume of seawater, he saw a giant statue of a woman. It was very ancient as it had integrated into the sea salt, seaweeds and other elements of the sea.

Why did he see a statue of a woman and not a man? Mircea’s father did not influence him as much as his mother. That’s why the female figure is more prominent in his unconscious, which helped to invent dreams.
