These are my favorite quotes from Blinding The Left Wing by Mircea Cartarescu
“We were, my family, three insects, each only interested in our own chemical trails, occasionally touching antennae and moving on. ” ( Cartarescu, p. 13)
The book was first published in 1996. The quote is so true and still relevant even today, in Feb. 2026.
“We are animals of nostalgia, abjections organized by geometry, as though our genitor spat into the cup of a lily and created us there, out of phlegm and perfume. ” (Cartarescu, p.67)
I like the above quote because it is true that we have memories and we love to recall the past, even when it hurts us. We are loathe to let go and we torture ourselves.
“We all have memories of the past, but none of us can remember the future.” (Cartarescu, p. 67)
I like this quote because it is mysterious.
