How did Elisabeth destroy Christenze a second time?
Christenze was beheaded but yet she could speak.
“Behind her (Elisabeth), Christenze’s head rolls out of the fire ……. The head speaks …….”
(Ravn, p. 176)
Although Elisabeth has betrayed her and the other women, Christenze has forgiven her and in fact, invites her to change.
Christenze said, “Magic is possible. Laughter is possible. There is a way out, Elisabeth, there is a way out …”
(Ravn, p. 178)
How did Elisabeth ruin Christenze’s last chance?
Elisabeth tossed Christenze’s head into the gutter and kicked it away, so that it could be carried away by either the slope in the gutter, or any water currents in it.
