No, Doris Kilman does not like parties. She wanted to keep Elizabeth Dalloway with her, so that she could not return home, to get ready for her mother’s party.

Doris wasn’t invited to attend Mrs Dalloway’s party. It was probably because the party guests would belong to a different social class that Miss Kilman couldn’t fit into.

Miss Kilman knows she is looks ugly with a big, white forehead. She is poor and is German, which probably would not win her friends at a party.

“I never go to parties,” said Miss Kilman, just to keep Elizabeth from going.
