The author of Anne of Green Gables, is Lucy Maud Montgomery. She uses the acronym, L. M. Montgomery. She lost her mother before she even turned two years old. Her dad sent her away to her grandparents who were strict, practicing Presbyterians. These facts have been published in numerous biographies of Lucy M. Montgomery.

As fate would have it, Lucy didn’t marry the man she fell in love with, and she didn’t have time to change her mind because he died. Later, she eventually married a Christian minister. Her real life was a far cry from the happy world of her fictional character Anne.

I read the series of Anne books when I was very young, and loved them.
