What’s the significance of naming this novel “Flashlight”?

The main character Louisa, likes the flashlight because her dad always carried his flashlight, whenever he brought her to the beach. After he disappeared during a trip to the sea, Louisa misses him and his flashlight.

Please note that there are cultural differences in naming objects in different countries. Some places call it a torchlight. It means the same as flashlight.

Later, Louisa is made to attend a counselling session with a child psychologist, Dr. Brickner. He has a flashlight in his office. Louisa stole it. She was only discovered at home, when she kicked in her bed, forgot about her stolen treasure, and it dropped down to the floor. Then her mother and aunt saw it.

Louisa’s dad made a wood doll house for her.
