Margaret Atwood’s partner in pranks at Camp White Pine was Beryl Fox. She wrote about this in Book Of Lives: A Memoir Of Sorts.

Beryl and Margaret played pranks at Camp White Pine, in the 1950s. They used to glue the staff’s shoes to the floor. The door knobs were lathered with showering form so that whoever touched the door knobs would get their hands messy with the foam. Beryl was caught and punished for the prank, but she never betrayed Margaret.

Margaret was good with nature like insects, wild mushrooms and snakes. She was code named Peggy Nature. Beryl was good with horses and nicknamed Beryl Horses. This way, the camp counselors could easily remember who was handling which subject in camp.
