If you have experienced this, you get it immediately. For the rest, some description is needed. Imagine a person being manipulated with gaslighting. A group is at hand to send boos and boost the leader of this show. The victim is so humiliated that s/he goes into silence.

The bully reacts in the opposite. S/he crows with delight. The more the victim squirms in discomfort, the more the bully pleasurizes oneself.
