Jerome Belsey emailed his dad Howard Belsey, to tell him that he is going to ask his current employer’s daughter, Victoria “Vee” Belsey, to marry him. This surprises his dad and mom Kiki. The former decides to visit Jerome in London, where he presently stays with his boss and his family.

Howard and Kiki can’t call Jerome because his phone has run out of credit.

Howard leaves to board his flight to London, just missing the next email from Jerome. He says he made a mistake.

Kiki realises the seriousness, embarrassment and humiliation, when Howard shows up at the Kipps’ residence, to talk about Jerome and Vee. Howard does not carry a cell phone and Kiki has no way oc contacting him to relay the news.
