Margaret Atwood’s dad probably has prior knowledge of building cabins. We can learn

how to build log cabins by reading a book. This is the most popular and widely purchased book on Amazon, as of Jan 1 2026.

Prefab cabin link.

I read about Margaret’s dad, Carl Atwood, building cabins and houses, in rural areas, in her memoir, Book Of Lives: A Memoir Of Sorts. They used to move frequently as Carl was an entomologist scientist, whose research helped to conserve forests and ecosystems in Canada.

Carl supported himself and his family of wife and three kids, on his salary. He saved money by building his own cabins, outhouses and houses, as they moved from one location to another.

I bought my copy of Atwood’s Book/ Memoir. I opened it flat to show the back cover too. It is a great book with a vast expanse of knowledge in many areas. I think it is worth every cent of its cost.
