If you are searching for a review for the Apollo Walker, this is it – this is a review for the Apollo Walker, used for an injured foot. This is my review from my experience wearing the Apollo Walker for injured foot.

I fell down one level (one floor or storey) because I missed my footing. I rested on the day of my fall, but saw my foot was visibly swollen and decided to check into 24 hour urgent care (E.R.) the following day.

A triage nurse took my blood pressure (B.P.) and temperature. All were normal.

My Emergency Medicine Physician held my foot and pressed it in certain spots, to test my reaction, to help in preliminary diagnosis. He then sent me for X-rays.

After a short wait, my Dr. saw me again to inform me my diagnosis. I had two hairline fractures. My bones didn’t separate so there was no call for surgery to amend. I would have to wear a cast for 1 – 2 months. I had to visit the specialist, an orthopaedic doctor, for official diagnosis and assignment of treatment.

The orthopaedic was efficient, polite, courteous, respectful, and smooth. He briefed me on what I had to do.

Since the invention of the “Apollo Walker”, the permanent cast has been replaced and made redundant with this boot.

I was told to wear a tight knit sock to tackle the swelling on my injured foot. Then another staff would fit my foot with the correct size of the Apollo Walker boot.

I was ushered into a waiting room. Actually, it was the consultation room of another doctor but he wasn’t at his desk today so I had the privilege of waiting in that room.

The technical staff came and she had brought the boot. She went through the procedure of wrapping the “open liner” with velco around my foot. Then she placed my foot into the main component of the Apollo Walker. She instructed me to push back until I could feel my heel against the heel of the boot. She looked at the front of my foot to ensure my toes had sufficient space at the front of the boot. It was a snug fit but maybe a tad small. So the technician told me to wait while she went to fetch another size from the store.

The grey hard plastic piece is the foot guard protector, over which one velco strap holds it firmly in place. The other velco belt goes over the shin, to help the entire grey cover stay in place.

She was quick and returned with another boot. After wrapping the open liner, I placed my foot into the boot, and she fastened the velco of the liner. Next, she placed the hard plastic shin protector on top of my shin. Next, she took the velco straps of the boot to tighten and fasten over my shin plastic guard protector. Next, she showed how to pump the two “air bladders” at the sides of the boot. Pumping involves depressing the blue plastic bubble. The compressed sacs inside the boot provides support for the malleoli.

The reverse action of releasing the air takes place when the user wishes to remove the boot. there is a small grey cap to uncap, to release air from the air bladders, to decrease the air pressure of the air bladder, so that you can gently lift your foot from the boot.

The inner sole has a wide foot bed, to allow the injured foot and dressing/ compression stocking to fit.

The bottom sole has a thick layer of rubber to absorb shock of depression caused by the wearer. Its outer sole is made of non-skid rubber. After wearing this Apollo Walker, I felt less pain in my foot, while walking. Kudos to the thick rubber absorbing the shock of depression when my foot suffers the weight of my body as I stand and shift my weight.
