I think Amina Cain herself is good at descriptive writing. I like Ms Cain’s short novel “Indelicacy“, because its descriptive writing was very rich, like a graphic novel. I could imagine the scenes. After I read Indelicacy, I became a fan of Cain. That was why I searched for her available books and I found and bought A Horse At Night: On Writing.

Cain described this as her diary of reading fiction, and writing about her thoughts after reading fiction books. This diary is useful for readers who desire to follow in the footsteps of Cain, and maybe train themselves to become writers.

Indelicacy

This is about a young woman who works as a janitor (cleaner) in a museum. A rich man falls for her and marries her. She finally has time to pursue her interests and she writes. However, with this new development, she realizes she loves her writing more than her husband. They divorce and she receives enough alimony to allow her to continue to spend time writing.
