Christenze is a character in The Wax Child, a book written by Olga Ravn. In 1616, she was hunted by people who wanted to bring her to trial, for performing witchcraft. Christenze left Funen and went to Aalborg.

Anne Bille started the witch hunt because she suspected Christenze of doing magic spells to kill all of her 15 babies who died almost immediately after childbirth.

Actually, Anne’s doctor had already told her there was a problem which caused the deaths of all her infants. Anne was afraid that her husband and other people would blame her for her babies’ deaths, she was determined to pin the fault on Christenze.
