Margaret Atwood’s left ring finger was almost hacked off by a hatchet. She wrote that it was a rainy day in Camp White Pine and she was using a hatchet when she accidentally chopped at her left ring finger. It was left dangling by a thread (of skin?). A nurse at the Camp sewed her finger on her hand. She said this serious wound hurt a lot.
